Hi,
I'm have a 2.16 Intel Core Duo MBP with 2gb RAM, and currently running Leopard 10.5.1
I partitioned my drive using the Boot Camp utility to 15gb and installed Windows XP (SP2) (it's slipstreamed with SATA drivers - don't know if this is relevant or not!!)
The install went fine, but everytime I boot into windows, I get to the main screen / desktop, and within a few moves / clicks (either with the mouse or trackpad) the whole thing freezes.
I've tried restarting it (it occasionally freezes to a black screen, but on the whole it's ok) and I've also tried removing the partition and reinstalling all over again both on the FAT and NTFS systems... still no joy!
Has anyone got any suggestions?
I'd really like to be able to run Adobe Captivate hence going for the boot camp option - otherwise I guess I'll have to see if I can run it on Parallels...
Thank you!

Ah, my old friend/nemesis Adobe Captivate. I know it/hate it well! ;-)
By the way, it does work quite well in Parallels except for recording audio. I always go into Boot Camp to record audio for any Windows app.
I doubt it's the problem, but try a larger partition. 15GB is pretty tight for XP. Also, you may want to try a bare bones slipstreamed XPSP2. There is a very good chance that the extra drivers you've added are causing the problem. What do you need extra SATA drivers for anyway?

Thanks for the suggestion Steve - I'll try giving it a bigger partition... I have absolutely no idea about the SATA drivers... that's very much the domain of my partner who dabbles with such things!
It doesn't sound as though you're a fan of Captivate... can you tell me more? (I don't know much about it - it seems like the "best" tool for the job that I've got on, but am open to any other / better suggestions... especially ones that run on macs!!)

Unfortunately, I have not found anything better for Windows software demonstrations (which is part of my job). It works OK, but I see the demos that Apple does (like those small business tips of the week) with smooth zooming on what's getting clicked and I wish I could do that. Captivate is OK, but you can't resize well without going fuzzy, and there are very few customizations for the default recording settings (example: you're always going to get a "Click the OK button" bubble while you're recording that you have to manually remove and adjust timing for all other elements because of it).

I had a problem with an XP install disc that I slipstreamed "the correct" SATA drivers onto-it just wouldn't work at all. XP-SP2 includes basic, generic SATA drivers, so "the correct" drivers aren't necessary on the disc, and may mix up the installer. While 15GB will eventually get sort of claustrophobic for XP, it should install fine on anything from about 8GB up; I think you could be gagging the thing with the SATA driver. Would it be a major problem to burn a new XP disc without the SATA driver?
