I started to install windows XP on my macbook pro 15 and partitioned the harddrive using bootcamp install , gave the windows side 32GB and selected C: Partition3 (FAT32) and was going to format, but the windows cd was automatically ejected and a black screen showed an error, Disc Error press any key to restart and nothing worked. I had to hold down the start key for a while and then reinstall leopard. Even then got the same message. 3hrs later we tried to hold down the "c" key when the chime sounds on stsrt up, this took a few tries, had to be held down until my mac desktop opened up. all seems ok on my Mac side, but bootcamp only has folders and no used space for windows. I assume you're using WinXP SP2, correct? I would suggest boot into Mac OS X, run the Boot Camp Assistant to repartition the drive to just one, then start from the Mac OS X install disc to verify the hard drive, and fix any errors if found. Restart back to Mac OS X, run Boot Camp once more, partition...then try the install again. Hope this helps

Thanks for the reply.
Yes we're using WinXP SP2 and I have already used the Mac OS X install disc to verify my hard drive, but I did not repartition to one hard drive. Do you think I can go ahead and reinstall without doing that? I did all that before I got your reply.

It's better to undo everything and start over. OS X may not complain, but Windows gets downright squirrly when there's anything the least bit off in the partition table or boot record. It's quick and easy to get back to square one, and from there you have a known starting point.

I also think you should restore to a single partition using the Boot Camp Assistant. Then use it again to repartition.

Yeah, I got windows installed!!! The only thing that didn't seem to get installed are the boot camp drivers, I followed the printed out instructions and when I inserted the Mac OS X disc it only wanted to to an install, as did the boot camp assistant. I went into help and couldn't find any info on boot camp anything, let alone drivers. I also checked to see if my windows has a boot camp tray and could not find it. I'm not sure what I need that for but I would like to do whatever is best for my mac.
