I got the blue screen of death, right in the middle of checking my email on the Windows side. Ever since, every time I try to boot up Windows XP, I get only a black screen with a blinking cursor at the top left corner. Windows was running fine before this. I upgraded Boot camp last month after moving to Leopard.

If I uninstall and then reinstall Bootcamp, will I still be able to access my Windows files from the Mac side?

Also, currently I can see most of the windows files from My Documents from the Mac. But I'm missing many recent files from this year. Any suggestions to retrieve them?

You CAN read any Windows files from OS X. OS X can't natively write to NTFS partitions, but for data recovery that's not the issue. As to where your "missing" files are, that's a mystery and it's going to take a lot more information from you to be able to help you look for them.

In the mean time, reinstalling Boot Camp won't do ANYTHING for you in this case-the partition is already there and you were running Windows natively. Boot Camp doesn't do anything other than give you a nifty partitioning tool and provide Windows drivers for your Mac hardware. What you probably need to do is to perform a "repair install" of XP. Follow these instructions and you will probably be able to get this done fairly easily. Once you have XP running properly again, your missing files may no longer be missing...
