I have copied over the My Documents file from my old IBM laptop. It is on my Windows XP VM. I have MS Office installed there. Is there a way to view these files in Finder and open them with the appropriate Windows program just by clicking them (in Unity mode)?

Hi Kyle

You have to set up Shared Folders. Go to the VM Settings:
menubar: Virtual Machine > Settings

Choose a folder on your Mac hard drive (e.g. /users/shared) to share
Just to be very safe, you might want to make sure that giving Windows access to this folder will not compromise the rest of the system.

Currently, you can only share one folder. The v2 beta seems to allow for multiple shares.

You can then access it in your Windows VM as if it were a network drive
In Windows explorer, type \\.host\Shared Folders to access the folder

Whatever you move into this folder from either Windows or Mac OS will appear in all the OSes.

You can then map this network drive so it appears in My Computer, or as a shortcut on the desktop.

If you have the time you should take a look at the VMware site. Should answer most of your questions.
