Hey, guys... Does anyone know how to disable the built-in speaker on a Mac Pro when in XP through Bootcamp? I use the optical out, and I can't figure out how to shut off this internal speaker. Thanks for any help!

Go into the control panel, access the device's advanced settings and disable the driver/device.

Thanks, but I have no idea what this device/driver is called in XP/Bootcamp. Any clues?

Is there something I should change in the Realtek HD Audio Manager menu? Please help me figure out how to disable this speaker. It's grating on my last nerves. Thanks very much for any help.

Try this - Control Panels > Admin Tools > Computer Management, then click Device Manager. Expand System Devices and double-click System Speaker. Set it to 'do not use this device (disable)' and see if that works.

You should be able to turn off this without disabling audio drivers.

Thanks, Cold Warrior, but there isn't a "System Speaker" in System Devices. I don't see anything referencing audio or speakers in System Devices. Is there somewhere else I should look?

You could look in the sound/audio section above system devices. Maybe through trial and error you can find an audio device/driver to disable that silences the speaker but not the optical out.
