I'm trying to install Windows XP Professional SP3 on a new iMac (3.06ghz), and it keeps freezing at 33 minutes, when it says: Installing devices...

I did a search and found that some people solved this by unplugging their monitor, which doesn't really help me. I'm partitioning using FAT32, and each time I try I always reformat.

Am I doing something wrong? Anyone have any suggestions?

Is this the official disc from Microsoft, or a copy made from it? If it's the original, you may want to make a copy and use that. 9 times out of 10, the copy will do much better in installing.

It's a copy.

A friend said to try using an SP2 disc, then upgrading if it works. I'll try that tonight.
