Hi
i was wondering if it was possible to switch between windows xp and mac OS X on the fly. so have both of the OS loaded at the same time, and then just switch between the two when it is required. is it possible to do that?
Also another question, my battery does not charge at all, when i put in the charging cable, it says that the battery is not chargin. is this a battery settings thing, or just that the battery is not working anymore?
Thanks

It's possible with an app like VMWare Fusion or Parallels.
As for the charging part, it's possible the charger isn't working. Do you have another to test?

Re the charger, what machine do you have, and are you sure the charger you are using is the correct one for it? This can happen if, for example, you use a MacBook charger with a MBP.

First question: the only way to switch between the two OSs is to virtualize one of them. That's what VMware's Fusion and Parallels do. At one point Apple was supposedly working on live switching between native instances of Windows and OS X, reportedly for implementation in Leopard, but obviously that didn't really happen.
Second question: as zombie mentions, if you are not using the right charger, your computer can't charge the battery because different chargers provide different amounts of power. In his example, the MacBook charger provides a lot less power than an MBP needs to run and charge.

It's also possible with a free OS X app called Virtualbox that I would suggest looking at before you look at Parallels or VMWare (which cost money).

Sure, if you don't need basic things like bridged networking...

To anybody else reading and not familiar with this term, this means that the guest OS is assigned a private IP address that is inaccessible outside of the host. This guest OS does have outbound network access though...
