In bootcamp, I can set how much HD space to dedicate to windows. I will be installing WinXP Pro. All I really need it for is for Slingplayer 2.0 (needs a couple hundred megs of space and a gigabyte for streaming storage), and Office. Probably a small app here and there for upgrading firmware on the controllers for our reef tank too but now much else. Is the minimal 32 gigs plenty for those purposes? I wasn't sure how much Win XP really needs to be running well.

32GB is more than enough. With what you're looking do to even 20GB would be more than enough...and would leave enough room for expansion. For the record 32GB is not the minimal size - you can go as small as 5GB (but obviously 5GB is too small for you)

32GB is the default size, not the smallest. But if you can afford that much of your hard drive dedicated to Windows, go with that size partition. Windows tends to grow through updates and patches, and for some reason they never came up with a tool or feature that would eliminate the multiple "undo" folders these updates and patches leave-which you have to eventually go in and delete for space reasons.
