Being a VMware Fusion user I pondered about the new Parallels Desktop 4 -out now-, I have downloaded the trial, requested the key and wow, it is much faster than VMware Fusion 2.

Only downside, silly to say the least, the icons that used to be at the right margin and have moved to the top side of the window, like Fusion does, got a fugly look and it seems there is only one set of them. Setting icon size as small kind of mitigates it…

So, if you thought VMware Fusion was fast enough (to me it was), give Parallels Desktop 4 a try. Rest assured you would be pleasingly surprised.

I’ll stick with Fusion, knowing that v3.0 will be faster than Parallels 4.0 again.

Maybe it’s just me but Fusion always felt more polished than Parallels. I recall their first Alpha releases being more stable than Parallels final product and since I’ve started using Fusion it hasn’t crashed on me once. How is Parallels 4.0 in terms of stability?

Anyway, competition is a great thing for us customers.

+1. I'm not going back to Parallels but it's nice to have competition.

I'm sticking with Fusion myself, in part because Parallels and VMWare are leap frogging each other, but also that Fusion's performance isn't bad. I'm content with the stability and its speed. Its not worth the extra $$ to jump ship imho.
