Ok....can someone PLEASE tell me how to get the internet to work using Parallels on my Mac OSX?
I've tried contacting Parallels & they take forever to get back to me & what they have told me hasn't worked. I have Windows XP.
Once I install Parallels & then windows what do I do from there to get the internet working?
It would be SOOOO awesome if someone could help me get this figured out! Thanks so much!

Welcome to our forums!

When I installed Parallels and then Windows, I automatically had a network connection, so IE and Firefox were immediately able to connect to the Internet.

What exactly is "not working?" Your browser? No connection to the Internet?

What do I actually do to get on the net? Do I just go to Internet Explorer or what? I'm not super computer smart so I'm obviously finding it difficult to figure out what to do!

Did you pop in your OS X install disc after installing XP on your Parallels partition? You'll need to install some Apple drivers for XP that'll make it, well, pretty much do everything.

I tried to connect to the internet right off the bat after installing XP on my machine and it didn't work until I installed all the drivers off of the OS X disc.

You only need to install the Mac drivers if you're running Windows under Boot Camp. With Parallels, s/he needs to install the Parallels tools. This is done from the VM->Install Parallels Tools menu option. That said, I thought networking work even without the tools installed.

To the OP. Here's a knowledge base article that may help you troubleshoot.

No, the Parallels Tools are needed for the drivers to tell Windows how to use the Mac's network interfaces (ethernet, Airport, etc.).

I had already installed the Tools.
I'm just confused to what i need to do to connect to the internet. I have Broadband. And when I go to Internet Explorer it asks for a user name & password. So I don't know what to do from there. Or if that's even where I need to go.

I need to know about your OS X network settings. Open your System Preferences and look at Network pane. In the left side window, you should see a number of "adapters." You should see at least a couple of Parallels adapters, the Parallels NAT adapter and Parallels Guest adapter. Do you have those?

Don't forget that networking also has to be configured inside the VM guest.

When I go to the network pane there's a checkbox for 'Enable DHCP scope for host-only networking' & a checkbox for 'Enable scope for shared network' and both of them are checked.

That's in Parallels' network settings. You should also have a set of "Device Status" options-select "Enabled" and "Connect cable at startup" (those are the wordings in Parallels 2; I haven't upgraded to 3 or 4).

Now look at your Mac's network settings (System Preferences, Network) and see if you see the two Parallels adapters listed.

O Sorry!!
All I see is Built-in Ethernet, two Ethernet Adaptors & AirPort. None of them say anything about Parallels. They all had green dots beside them except for the AirPort one.
Thanks for helping me out btw!

That's for BootCamp, not Parallels.

I'd try reinstalling the Parallels Tools. The Tools are what create the shared networking capability, and that's what you need in place before anything else will work. You may just want to reinstall Parallels altogether; it should see your existing VMs and leave them alone.
