Basically, upon the installation of the Windows part of Boot Camp, I've attempted to use a Windows CD which is apparently a restore disc and because of this, my mac's not accepting it as a Windows install.

Now I appear to be completely screwed as all it keeps doing is reloading Windows and trying to install it rather than OS X. I've taken the Windows disc out now and it's telling me no bootable device.... help! I know I've been really stupid.

Cheers

Take a deep breath! This is something that is easily handled-but it isn't obvious and that's what's been scaring you.

Turn off the computer. Now turn it back on, and as you hear the boot chime, hold down the "Alt/option" key. Hold it until you get a screen that shows two hard drives, labeled <your Mac hard drive name> and <Windows>. Use your mouse or cursor keys to select the Mac disk and your machine will boot into OS X. As a final step, go into the "Startup Disk" preference pane in System Preferences and make sure that OS X is selected as the default boot OS.

Now you can either use the Boot Camp Utility to get rid of your other partition, or go looking for a full version Windows disc.

Welcome to our forums, and have a great Christmas!

Wow that was so simple! I thought I was going up to London to get that sorted! The only thing is, intstead of doing what you'd said it did, once I selected the Mac's HD then it just went straight to my desktop. How do I reverse everything I did with the partitioning? I want nothing to do with that for a long time..

Thanks a lot though and you too, no doubt I'll be back..

Open the Boot Camp Utility and choose the "Create or Remove Windows Partition" option from the second screen. That will completely delete that partition and restore your drive to a single partition.
