I have 4GB RAM installed on my MacBook but Vista only recognizes 3.06GB. I was under the impression that Vista doesn't need to be 64-bit in order to recognize the full 4GB. I know XP was like that, any ideas?

Both Vista 32 Bit and XP 32 bit will only recognize a little over 3GB if you have 4GB installed.

Don't install Vista 64-bit unless you desperately must have 4GB RAM.

Vista x64 differs from x32. It requires any device drivers to be digitally signed, which means that you can't use beta drivers, and a lot of hardware just won't work at all. Leave your 3GB RAM as-is and just deal with the 1GB loss. It'll be easier on you.
For all the trash I talk, I sure own a lot of Macs...

Vista 32-bit (Business) says I have 7GB RAM (correct) but only uses 2GB. I use Vista to play a couple games and haven't found any reason to worry, but when Windows 7 64-bit comes out, I'll be first in line.

Assuming Win7-64 doesn't share Vista 64's annoying driver issues, that might be a good idea.
