bluetooth printer and windows xp

I have bluetooth for my printer and need it to work on my windows side, but it will not. I have to use my usb cable. It's turned on in windows, b It won't work. Help!

We need a LOT more information! What model of printer is it? What computer are you using? What version of Windows? It's kind of important to know all these things...

I don't think USB printer sharing works cross platform. I've never gotten it to work, myself.

manival, you did install the Pixma driver under XP, right? Further, Canon's MP610 page says that Bluetooth is "optional." Are you sure YOUR 610 is BT equipped?

I installed bluetooth on the mac side,yes i did install the pixma driver on the xp side but i have to hook up usb to print on xp, and all my literature says it can be shared. I have the bluetooth turned on on the xp side, but it does not respond. It works fine for the mac side.

That sounds a lot more like not having all the Windows drivers working. You could check in the Device Manager to see if you have any devices with yellow exclamation points after them. One problem with Windows is that it won't always let you know if a driver doesn't properly install, so you might think all is well when it actually isn't. Take a look and see whether you have a green BT device in Device Manager.

When you set up the printer with OS X, does it "pair" itself with OS X? I have a bluetooth keyboard that, once paired with OS X, won't show up under XP at all. Can you reset the printer and connect it with XP from scratch?
