I used migration assistant to transfer all of the data on and older MBP to the new Unibody MBP. I connected it via FW800 and all of the files moved across to the new computer. The problem is that when i try to launch Parallels I receive an error, if i click OK Parallels shuts down and if I click Cancel Parallels shuts down. I have looked in all of the folders on both the new and old computers and as far as i can tell everything moved across. All of the files are the same size and have the same amount of files in each folder. Has anyone come across this? Can migration assistant even be used to move parallels and if so has anyone done it successfully?

Thanks for your help.

Are you saying you migrated the Parallels application itself over? I don't usually trust migration for applications. There's always other files that might not have come over or something else about the installation could be wrong. Better to just do a reinstall of Parallels instead.

Yes, I migrated everything over from the previous computer including the apps. Is it possible to do a reinstall of Parallels but use the disk image from the previous install?

Of course. You can also just download the disk image from the Parallels web site. It's the full app.
