So I had bootcamp on Tiger, and it allowed me to burn a CD full of the drivers necessary to install to windows, to get it running well. I'm about 1.5 hours from home, and apparently I install windows, then put in my leopoard disc for the additional drivers now!? : brick:

Is there a work around? Can I download the windows XP drivers to a disc?

Thank you in advance!

If it weren't for the initial stumbling block of not necessarily having the keyboard work right, you could have Windows search for acceptable drivers. If your keyboard and mouse are at least semi-working, (and your network interface, of course) I'd try that...

Google your Apple model (which we don't know) and see if there are any posted on forums or blogs - there are for my MBP.

Well I downloaded some new bootcamp drivers for leopard, from a torrent site. Burned those to disc, installed, but no dice. Windows are still slow to move around, and in the System Profiler thing, under Device Manager, I get a list of things that don't have drivers (isight, bluetooth, network adaptor, video, audio, etc).

So, I went to Apple's website, and downloaded the Bootcamp 2.1 Update, which has 250 megs of drivers. Installed that. Everything went smoothly, it said it was installing things. And... still nothing.

WTF. What drivers do I need for this MBP? Are they so new that they aren't on all the internet OSX 10.5 drivers?

I'm confused. Are you saying you don't have your system disks with you?

When you install the 2.1 update, which should be complete drivers, you say "nothing" happens. What does that mean? Are you saying you still see devices missing drivers?

I am saying I don't have my disks with me. Like I said in the original post, I am hours from home.

I downloaded the 2.1 update, which "installs" fine, but none of the drivers work. No wifi, no isight, nothing. I go to device manager, and they are all showing up as uninstalled, unsupported hardware. Since I don't ahve any video acceleration it runs like poop, and windows barely move.

My Mac Pro original discs didn't help since it were previous to 10.5, my retail 10.5.0 didn't help me cause with a nvidia 8800gt installed it just give me a kernel panic, I didn't bothered calling to Apple asking for a 10.5.2 or newer discs since 10.6 is almost there… What I did was to download the package you have mentioned (Boot Camp Update 2.1) and install it once XP SP3 was already installed (Apple site states you have to install Boot Camp Update 2.1 before installing XP SP3 but all went fine here so far. Then, as for GPU drivers I just downloaded and installed the nvidia drivers from nvidia site.

Which MacBook Pro model do you have there?.

If for any matter you're missing the Mac OS X Boot Camp Assistant utility, download it from here:

I have a week old 13" MBP, 2.2ghz model. It came with 10.5. whatever. I did NOT install SP3, but basically, the issue is the apple bootcamp driver disc or exe looks like it is doing something, but then after it says to restart, still nothing has drivers.

I think this is a rather similar issue to what's happening to your MBPro 13", may it help you?

Your XP DOES have SP2, right? The driver model changed between SP1 and SP2, and Apple's drivers are ONLY for SP2 and later-this is the reason they tell you that anything under SP2 won't work.

Well crap - there goes that theory.

Have you tried manually installing a couple of the drivers through Device Manager? One thing Windows is really bad at is reporting driver install failures. Unless athere's a massive disk read error or something, you won't get a peep that says "oops, something didn't work." So manually attempting the installation can often either fix the problem or identify where it is.

Yes, I tried that also. When I run the individual installers, it says "compatible hardware cannot be found". I'm guessing that I'm goign to have to drive 1.5 hours away, to get my original 10.5 discs, and use them. They probably have drivers different than the ones available through the web.

You'll need your Leopard disc. Boot Camp 2.1 came out long before the unibody laptops did. It will not have the necessary drivers.

I wasn't sure if Unibody Macs had enough different hardware to be a problem, but it looks like they do-causing downinflames68's issues. Crud.

The unibodies are a totally new platform. There's probably very little that carried over from the previous models.

Well that worked.

God, i wish Apple had made it more clear you need the disc for the drivers. What a PITA, esp since they USED to be within the bootcamp app.

Anyway, everything is now peachy using the original discs.

When were drivers ever in Boot Camp itself? You've always had to burn a disk or use system disks.

In the beta, the drivers were contained within the Boot Camp Utility. You could burn a disc or extract the package from the app.

You're a little late. The OP has already been home and used the disc.

I have the exact same problem...EXCEPT...the original Unibody disc doesn't help!
The drivers aren't recognized and Windows remains unusable!
Damn!

What now???

I'm not trying to be an ass or anything, but Apple did make it clear:

I dunno...it says "additional drivers," not "absolutely essential device drivers to make your keyboard and other important stuff work." They ain't exactly holding your hand with that notice.

In my case the only thing that helped were the drivers you can download from the link which can be found here:
Log | Joel Pittet

But then I still had to install every driver one by one because the included setup.exe showed the same result as the Leopard DVD - they only seemed to install fine but Windows still didn't recognize them!
