Good evening. I am having such a terribly frustrating problem. I have recently set up partition of 24 GB for Boot Camp and installed a legit (and this is why I'm mad) $199 XP Home SP2 on my 10.5 iMac. Actually for the second time I installed the boot camp and the xp. I am connected to a 2 wire wireless router (network modem) via ethernet cord but it is a genuine wireless router that works well with other house machines. I have not changed anything in the house other than installing partition and xp sp2; (my wife has xp pro on lenovo and I have the iMac and a macbook both work very well with modem). I have absolutely no idea what to do in order to get connected to the internet on my windows side. I have inserted the os x leopard disc into the windows os and run installation. The installation process went well both times without any error messages. I have seen a frequent reference to the broadcom in device manager and a mention of right clicking and making sure driver is update and installed. I cannot find this broadcom on device manager. The only thing there is some 1394 network card. I called 2wire/att dsl support and they were so damn idiotic (by telling me to empty my temporary internet cache in xp system). I cannot seem to get it right. Does it have something to do with tcp/ip....In network settings I see nothing but lan which states it is operational but there is no juiice in IExplorer. I pinged even the ip address I found for the router and nothing came back. I AM LOST! Please help. Thanks so very much for any assistance.

Welcome to the forums!

Have you looked at Device Manager to see whether or not there are devices with problems (they'll have exclamation points after the device name)? I'll bet there's a problem with your WIRED Ethernet interface, and it's going to show up as something with an odd looking name that will not have anything to do with "Broadcom."

It would also be helpful to know which iMac version you have. My own 2007 vintage (original) 20" Aluminum iMac has a Yukon Ethernet card, while its AirPort (wireless) card is by Broadcom.
