Windows 7 on Fusion 3 will not connect to the network directly (bridged mode)

I just installed Fusion 3 and Windows 7 32-bit; and for some reason I cannot connect directly to my network directly (bridged mode). I am able to connect to the network via NAT; but I need to connect via bridged mode so that I use a VPN.

When I boot-up my Windows XP Pro virtual machine, I am able to connect directly to the network.
