I have decided to switch to a mac and purshase a Macbook laptop. I heard that the Boot camp program is already installed into it. The only thing that I'm still unsure of is if I have to purshase a version of Windows XP or Windows 7 in order to use boot camp? If so, is it expensive? or can you download it off the internet?
Boot Camp merely prepares your Mac's hard drive for the installation of the alternate OS; you need the OS to install it. As Steve points out, we don't discuss "informal ways of getting software" here. You can find XP for around $100 very easily, and you can actually get Win7 for only $30 if you're a student with a qualifying (.edu) email address.
