Hmm...

They call it the 'Windows 7 Slate'. And it's apparently coming by the end of this year.

Will this be an iPad smother?

See article and video here.

If the HP slate simply runs windows 7, it will fail.
The key to a great tablet is the interface, designed to be used with ones' fingers (like the iPhone OS, for example).

HP Slate is dead. And so are (most likely) serious Windows 7 based tablets.

Well, at least someone figured out that the desktop metaphor doesn't work on a tablet/slate form factor. But I'll be looking forward to an HP Slate running webOS -- that might actually be a reasonable competitor to the iPad.
Trust me. I'm a Taco.

Chances are HP will not incorporate Palm into HP products, the only decent piece of technology that Palm has is it's webOS and its not really a great system, rather sub par on a developer basis. But I would imagine HP will try to do some mobile phone stuff with some of their technology laid over the webOS and maybe they will use a little of Palm to increase the flashiness of HP....the new Palm Printer!!
