Some of you will remember that I was having a good amount of difficulty getting a proper clone of my Windows 7 boot drive. I tried Paragon Backup, Norton Ghost, Acronis True Image and xxClone. All of them failed to meet my needs in various ways. I was starting to despair ever getting a proper clone of my drive and really longing for the superiority of OS X.

Thankfully, I came across one recommendation that worked out perfectly. I found a review recommending EASEUS To Do Backup, a free backup utility made by a Chinese software company. Unlike other free backup utilities, this one installs and runs in Windows without resorting to a different boot disc. It has a very nice interface, and it's pretty quick at copying too. Most importantly, after failing with those previous tries, this clone works magnificently. Microsoft should buy this software and bundle it with Windows - I think it really fills in a big gap in Windows maintenance functionality.

Not sure what you needed before but I cloned my BootCamp partition using WinClone and never had any problems. I'd like to try Easeus but I don't trust Chinese software developers at all...

It's good that WinClone is an option for Boot Camp, but it wasn't an option in this case because this is on a PC not a Mac.

As for trusting Chinese software I can appreciate your concerns but the software is well reviewed by all nearly everyone including professional reviewers. I know there is some risk it could carry spyware, but I think it is a very small risk. And besides we trust Chinese companies with the manufacture of much of our consumer electronics, and people also buy PCs from the likes of Lenovo.
