On linux terminal names seem to go like pts/0 and so on, and other times I see it go up like ttyp0 and up.
My question is, whats the difference!

ttyp0 are old terminal names, still used for getty (the app that ask your name and password at login). Terminal emulators like xterm and konsole use pts/0,1,2,3,4 as UNIX98 virtual terminals, same thing two different names.
The real difference is that tty?? must be created with mknod command and they are present in a fixed number, pts/* have no limitations (but one configurable in the kernel config) and are created dinamically as they are needed. pts/ are also safer than ttys.
