I have a rev b imac and I am trying to install mandrake but it doesn't even see my hard drive. it keeps telling me to check my hardware. I partitioned the hd as to the instructions but still nadda. My imac is kind of screwy in that it has two ide hd's (one internal and the other in a mobile rack case connected with a big long dual ide cable) could this be causing the problem? If the slave/master settings aren't correct for linux? I don't know jacl **** but I wanted to try it out. I partitioned it so that there was one part for x one for 9 and left the rest as free space for the linux os. Hmmm.... any ideas?

i used to have the same setup for my imac rev b.

Master HD should be seen as /dev/hdax
Slave should be seen as /dev/hdbx
x= the partition number

Remember you have to reformat the hard drive and assign a "Unlocated" partition for Linux.The the Mandrake installer should "see" the format it to ext2 partition.

Install Guide for Linux-Mandrake for PPC can be found here

This is ****ed up. I thought my two hard drives were causing the problem so I set my mac up with just one and I partitioned the hard drive with free space (within the first 8gigs) and it still tells me that it can't find and hard drive at all. What it the freaking deal? I have a 20gig maxtor gig. I have wasted three days trying to to get this damn thing to work, lost a whole bunch of mp3s in the process as well. I checked out that installation guide but I can't find any help as to why it doesn't see my drive. Yellow dog doesn't see it either. ... this sucks.
