Ok, Well I am still a newbie with linux and more used to Darwin so this is probably a dumb question but.

It seems many of the binaries that are already on with darwin like traceroute and many MANY others do not come with mandrake.

I was wondering if they don't come with it if there is a package or something else that might of come with it or can be gotten that will install all the missing onws.

Take a look at the Software Manager to see what programs are already installed on your machine or are available with the distribution. You'll see that traceroute-1.4a12-2mdk.ppc.rpm is on the Installation CD.

If a program doesn't run after installation, find out where it was installed:

bash-2.05$ whereis traceroute
traceroute: /usr/sbin/traceroute

Then run it:
bash-2.05$ /usr/sbin/traceroute
Version 1.4a12
Usage: traceroute [-dFInrvx] [-g gateway] [-i iface] [-f first_ttl]
[-m max_ttl] [ -p port] [-q nqueries] [-s src_addr] [-t tos]
[-w waittime] [-z pausemsecs] host [packetlen]

Good luck.
