Ok all started when I was trying to get mandrake to use it's usb ethernet addapter I had been fiddleing with.

In the end after changing stuff in linuxconf in networking I notices the network field in mandrake was no longer loading, I gave up on the network card and started tinkering with fixing that.

I also was changing something in /etc/hosts but I left all original stuff

I think I might of done something wrong in selection of kernal module for the card but it was not enabled at the time.

Also before I shutdown normaly everything was freezing up and acting wierd, I ended up pushing something that dumped me intoa single user interface.

From there I shutdown the system with "shutdown -h now"

I now have the problem that when loading when getting to startup interface eth0 it takes a long pause, then continues were it starts failing on many other startup things like httpd, 2 have lost names, and pauses in all of it.

It pritty goes from there to a froezen up black but on screen after slowly going past or failing on processes and ends up at the login prompt, it takes long pauses loading from there too!

It looks not very good and I am a bit of a newbie still so I am very concerned.

I am very tired right now and wish I had left is alone. HAH, should remember that next time <img border="0" alt="[Skeptical]" title="" src="graemlins/bugeye.gif" />

The system is almost unusable anf I need help.

Any and ALL help is welcom

Edit: Ok, ok I apologise for waisting your time I fixed it myself.
Incase anyone is ever in a simmiler position, just take out all the records of the other device not working and remember to UNPLUG the device

Ok, Now I am so sleepy to care how much I have just probably humiliated myself so I will just leave now

Ok nothing to see here ignore me.

Well Everything is ok except I still can't get into the networking bit, (I notice now it's called connection)

Anyidea what makes it fail?

Edit:
Wow too humiliations in one day, I think I set myself a record.

I used process viewer to find out what it trys to launch, Managed to reset the settings and that fixed it.

Once again sorry for the waste of post <img border="0" title="" alt="[Frown]" src="frown.gif" />
