I'm running mandrake ppc. when I run the install, it goes into setup and brings me through a few steps, then when it asks which disk I'd like to use and whether I'd like to set up a partition, I choose to use my entire second scsi disk and click done and it freezes. I usually wait...and after a while it just reboots into my os. This happens EVERY TIME. After each attempt the scsi disk that I told it to use is not mounted and I have to initialize and format it. But when I initialize it it tells me that all the info will be gone and shows that three linux-named parts of the drive exist....but I can't get it to get past that part of the installation.

confused!! I'm not doing anything wrong as far as I can tell.. I've tried recommended and expert installs and the same thing happens. I even took out my extra video card so now I only have the original built in one...shoul I take out the memory I've added?

My machine is as follows:

Apple Power Macintosh G3 300 MT
384MB Ram, (new 256MB dimm, and two old 64's)
27GB ata IBM drive
4.25GB apple SCSI drive connected via a pci controller
USB card (on which I have a mouse that works during install)

anything?? Please help,

thanks,

Justin

I had the install freeze up right in the middle of copying files. Though this isn't exactly the same thing, it was fixed by downloading a fresh copy of the iso and burning it. Don't open it or view files on the iso, just burn it. I think I inadvertently corrupted the iso by looking at the html docs on it before burning it.

My two cents,

Don

Thanks Don.

All I actually had to do was remove my apple scsi hard drive and the ATTO Express PCI SCSI card it was connected to....compatibility issues?? Oh well, I have plenty of room on my main IDE drive and I didn't have anything on the SCSI drive...hmm...maybe I'll sell it on a swap list or ebay.

Now the problem is that I can't get it to recognize the built in ethernet port...which works fine in OS 9.1.

any input?

thanks,

Justin

Uh, I really don't know. In the Mandrake config app does ethernet show up? I don't have enough linux experience to tell you where to look but make sure it shows up under the config app : hardware, then look to make sure it is on and using DHCP, or whatever you use. The DHCP thing is probably somewhere else in a network config app.
