I'm running Yellow Dog on my iceBook 500, but i don't seem to get any sound. Is there something special I have to do?

YDL says sound is "not supported yet." But they're working on it. I'm trying to install YDL 2.2 on my iBook (dual USB, CD-RW) right now but but I keep getting a FATAL error at the yaboot install. How did your install go?

I had no problem at all with the install. i did use the Mandrake one though, that could be the difference.

rambo47,
I had the same problem (fatal error at the yaboot install) until I discovered the the YDL install doesn't quite get along with cdrw's. At the boot prompt you need to hit <TAB> to halt the process, then type:
install-gui hdc=ide-scsi
(you might recongize the ide-scsi reference in the error log you've been getting)
hit <ENTER> and you resume the installation. It should go without a hitch, at least that was my experience. Now, if only I can get my mouse to work (sigh...) - it's recognized (Logitech Wheelmouse USB) but it won't do a thing...

I ended up downgrading to YDL 2.1 and the install went through without a hitch. I thought I had a bad install disk and that was hanging me up. Perhaps I was premature in moving to 2.1. Now that I have version 2.1 running, how do I upgrade it to 2.2?
Apparently there is an update program called yup! that is installed. At least I think it is. I have a bunch of yup! files, but I have no idea how to run the app. "Newbie" doesn't even begin to describe me.

Sorry I wasn't around to help you earlier, rambo. I just grabbed YDL 2.2 this week, so i knew even less(!) about Linux a week or so ago:-) If you haven't already done so, I'd strongly recommend subscribing to the mailing list at Yellow Dog. That's where I've discovered the answers to the few install questions I've had. Every time I post, I find my solution later in the day. In fact, I've been able to help more than one person with the very same problem you descirbed here!
There's several threads on upgrading from 2.1 to 2.2 - give 'em a read. And good luck...
