I can install the new YDL 2.2 on my G4 867 with 17 Flat Panel (ADC) using the install-text22, but i only get 8 bit colors. Is there something i can write after the 'l' for Linux when it boot to correct the video (linux video=?). I find nothing in YDL mailing list concerning my problem. Also, i'm a newbie. It as to be simple or well explain. Thanks!

YDL only gives you 8 bit color on a Nvidia card at install. You have to change a config file called XF86Config-4. You can find it in /etc/X11/XF86Config-4 if you are in text mode use cd /etc/X11 to change directory and then "pico XF86Config-4". That will open XF86Config-4 in a text editor, scroll down to the section where you find the graphic card and then change the driver to "nv" that will give you the Nvidia drives. A bit further down you have a section called "screens" there you can change the default color depth to 15. Then press ctrl-x to save it. (use the same name) Then write startx and you should have it up and running in 16 bit color.

If you are in the graphical environment go to the same directory and use emacs or something to do the same changes.

Good luck

(I cant promise that this dosent break something.. )

I did exactly what you suggest. It does not work. It keep reverting to the default setting (fbdev driver and 8 bit Depth)..maybe it won t save for some reason. I m writing this in YDL with 8 bit colors...very inconfortable!
I have reinstall ydl 5 times, trying a different setup each time. That s a lot of restarts. I think i will wait for the next version of ydl and enjoy Mac OS X. Thanks!

Thats strange, it worked fine for me. Do you press ctrl-x, and then answer "y" to the save question, And then press enter?
