I'ts been a week, and the iPad has almost completely replaced m computer for "home computing". I find myself, astounded at the fact that the degrees of separation between the user and the information/content has been reduced so dramatically. Hardware wise, it's 'closer'; touch as opposed to a peripheral on a chord. Software wise, having the low-level OS abstracted to the point where the time, number of actions and complexity involved in getting to the content have been brought down dramatically (example: No file system access).
I've had an iPhone for almost a year, but the iPad has turned me into an App junkie. And so i wanted to start a thread for recommendations....
1.
Pulse(Not free) The most resent one and probably one that blew me away is Pulse. It's an RSS feed/ aggregator which allows you to simultaneously load up to 20 different news feeds and it present them to you in an easy to use UI (it's a little dense). Here's a trailer for it:
YouTube - Pulse News Reader - Trailer - iPad
I find this App invaluable as it saves me the time of pointing safari to multiple news sites every day (and sometimes mltiple times a day). This App is not free, but i think the value(time saving, presentation) is great.
2.
Adobe Ideas(Free). it's a finger painting/doodling app from Adobe, and it's free. There are a few things, like layers that i'd like, but it's a cool vector based drawing/painting app.
3.
AIM (Free), it's nice to see an official IM app from AOL for the iPhone/iPad with notifications. The UI is nice and clean as well.
4.
Planets(Free), great app for iPhone/iPad that shows the current position of celestial objects in the sky relitave to your position on earth.
5.
Epicurious (Free) great App to find recipes.
6.
The Guardian EyeWitness(Free).think, news in pictures....only the best pictures. it's stunning to just see the pictures.
7.
Bloomberg for iPad(Free) A nice replacement, despite being a lot more complex, to the iPhone stocks app/widget.
8.
Dictionary.com ... great reference.
More to come....
Cheers
