Secret of Mana for iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad on the iTunes App Store

So, the link says this is for the iPad. It's not.

However, pixel doubled, It looks freaking fantastic. I've never found a pixel doubled iPhone app that was even tolerable, let alone one I'm excited to use. It's so good I had to run it again to confirm there is in fact a 1x button.

An important note here is I haven't had a chance to play it yet, so the port could still be a disaster, but it'll be looking gorgeous while doing it.

Well if anything should look correct pixel-doubled, it's sprites.

In theory, yes. In practice, some end up handling the transformation better than others.

I'd hazard a guess SoM looks so nice because the sprites themselves are so well designed.

As a counter example, with Shining Force, you're just too close. It looks ugly retro chunky, not cool retro chunky.
