I'm developing this app.

Some of the content will be licensed under a couple of creative commons licenses. The terms of these mean

a) I have to make such content available to others under the same license
b) I have to provide copy of the license

The plan is to have the file downloadable to the phones photo library. The license will be via an html link in the app to view the license and download via safari

I think this should cover it, I can't easily work out if this is within the terms of the app store.

Any ideas?

Thanks

I'm not exactly sure what you're asking.

Basically if Apple had some weird stance on not allowing CC licensed content on the app store.

That's not Apple's problem so much as the original license's.

That may not allow distribution through the app store. Apple generally has a policy of prompt preemptive compliance when licensing disputes arise. They pulled VLC due to one developer's claim of open-source licensing violation.

That's the impression I get.

Apple doesn't care unless someone squawks. No one will squawk if you're not violating the license.

I'd be more concerned whether your plan satisfies the CC license rather than Apple. For instance, I'd feel much safer burying the legal somewhere in the app itself rather than just providing the link.

Good point. Theres only a couple of different cc licenses so it's easy to bundle them into the app via the settings. That way every user is automatically in possession of the correct license.
