Apple has opened up yet another automotive-related job position, notes
AppleInsider. The company is currently searching for an
In-Car Software QA Manager, who will help "drive iPod/iPhone/iPad integration testing with car stereos." The person is specifically expected to help test stereo compatibility with iOS products.
Car stereo integration has been an ongoing concern of Apple for years, having begun with a push to make cars iPod-friendly. Many stereo systems can now connect with Apple devices via Bluetooth or USB. In a select few cases automakers have deepened the integration to dashboard computers, for example
through Siri Eyes Free support.
Apple appears to be renewing its focus on the car world. Aside from Eyes Free and the latest job opening, in February the company began searching for people to work on app and framework development for iOS car technology. Just this week, Ferrari chairman Luca Cordero Di Montezemolo revealed that his company is in
talks with Apple about a bigger partnership on in-car entertainment systems.
