Apple has posted a new Mac software update,
MacBook Pro Retina SMC Update 1.1. The code deals with multiple glitches in the 15-inch Retina Pro, including one causing slow framerates for graphics-intensive games. Other bugfixes deal with issues involving
fan control, waking from sleep, and Power Nap.
The SMC update may resolve graphics issues that have plagued some owners of Retina MacBook Pros, particularly those with LG-manufactured displays rather than Samsung-manufactured displays. A
class-action lawsuit has been filed in California by one disgruntled user, saying Apple should do more to alert customers who have defective units. Currently the company is replacing any Retina MacBook Pros that exhibit "ghosting" or "burn-in" issues and have LG-manufactured screens.
The
download is 504KB, and requires OS X 10.7.5 on Lion, or OS X 10.8.2 on Mountain Lion.
