On Tuesday amidst a slew of small updates, Apple has posted new versions of its photo-management and editing software programs iPhoto (now at version 9.4.3) and Aperture (now at v3.4.4). Both are designed to address an handful of specific issues in each program, along with the usual stability and performance improvements. Both also require OS X 10.7.5 (for Lion users) or 10.8.2 (for Mountain Lion users) as a minimum. Apart from that, the two updates address entirely different areas to resolve known issues.

The Aperture update fixes a problem with Nikon P7700 raw-format images, and now correctly displays them in the import window -- as well as addresses an issue that could cause Aperture to quit unexpectedly during image import. The Shared Photo Stream invitation lists now scroll correctly, and a bug that could cause Aperture to quit when uploading photos to Photo Stream has been resolved.

Thumbnails with version names longer than 250 characters are now displayed correctly, and an issue with multiple warning dialogs appearing when web albums are synced after waking from sleep has been fixed. The update is available through the Software Update mechanism or directly from Apple's Support Downloads page, and weighs in at 523.15MB.

The iPhoto update now lets users delete photos from "My Photo Stream" by dragging to the trash, and also lets users export photos from the Photo Stream by using the export command in the file menu. Raw images manually imported from Photo Stream are now editable, and the updated fixes a manually-rotated but that would cause some images to appear unrotated when share in Photo Stream.

The update also squashes a bug that could case books to have the wrong page count after rearranging two-page spreads, and fixes an issue with calendar text that would appear at the wrong size (causing order cancellations). Finally, a bug that could cause iPhoto to quit unexpectedly while syncing to Facebook has been addressed. The update is 730.91MB in size and available either through Software Update or Apple's Support Downloads page.
