Enolsoft have updated their XPS book format reader XPS Viewer
to version 2.4.0 ($29), which now supports reading and converting .oxps files on OS X. The OXPS format is the default on Windows 8, and thus the update improves cross-platform compatibility for those using the XAML-based Open XML Paper Specification for layout documents, e-books and other publications. The program can also convert XPS or OXPS to PDF or one of several standard image formats, as well as extract images from XPS/OXPS documents and convert OXPS to XPS. It can also manage XPS files using a "bookshelf" metaphor, and highlight, search, rotate, copy, bookmark and zoom in or out of XPS documents. A separate XPS to PDF program is also available.
Autodesk adds iPhone support to Homestyler design app
The interior design and inspiration app Homestyler
from Autodesk (free) now offers iPhone support in addition to its previous iPad and web support. The program lets users explore home designs using high-quality 3D product models from major brands, re-imagining or designing a new room to scale, changing colors and creating ideas based on photos of the users' own rooms. The latest version lets users start from scratch, offering galleries of rooms or empty spaces as well as a user's photo, and uses 3D analysis and real scale to provide room dimension. Users can experiment with placement of 3D furniture, rugs, light fixtures, mirrors and more -- and share the results online through various social services. The program will also connect users to professional designers if desired to help their ideas become reality.
