Accessory maker TwelveSouth has launched a new HiRise stand
, this time for smaller Lightning-equipped devices. The unit operates like a dock, propping up a device for easy viewing and control while it continues to charge. Owners must, however, have their own Lightning cable ready to make the stand work as intended.
The stand is compatible with most cases, including thicker ones like the OtterBox Defender, due to cable clips and an adjustable rear support. It's also designed to keep microphone and speaker ports free, making it possible to take speakerphone or Skype/FaceTime calls without undocking.
The stand costs $35. It supports the iPhone 5, iPad mini, fifth-generation iPod touch, and seventh-gen iPod nano. Full-sized iPads, though, are currently too large and heavy to balance properly.
