Twitter has updated the iOS app
for its social network with several additions, most notably integrated two-step authentication. Rather than use a phone number, Twitter subscribers can now sign up for authentication via the combination of the app and push messaging. Backup codes are generated in case a device is lost, and whenever a login request is made, Twitter will supply details of the person's browser and rough location.
The app's lists feature has been upgraded to support creating and editing existing lists, with options for changing titles, descriptions, and members. Separately, when searching for photos, the app can now show results in a gallery; the same option appears when visiting a person's profile.
Remaining changes are mostly bug and performance fixes, such as better launch times. The app is a free download, and continues to require only iOS 5.
