On Wednesday, Apple issued a v3.0.1 update to its live performance and effects program MainStage
, fixing a handful of issues. The program -- which incorporates hardware control, pre-recorded backing tracks, Audio Unit and MIDI plug-ins and more -- now works correctly with certain Macs that have an AMD graphics processor, and the Arpeggiator MIDI plug-in no long causes unexpected CPU spikes. In addition, the update fixes an issue that could cause content downloading to stall, and solves a problem with adding and renaming markings in the Playback plug-in so that it now works as expected. The program costs $30 and is available on the Mac App Store.
Latest Humble Bundle offers one premium Mac title
As reported earlier, the latest Humble Bundle
offers an unexpected group of games from Electronic Arts, with up to eight games available on a "pay what you want" basis. Almost all the games are Windows only, but one title -- life simulator game Sims 3 and a "Starter Pack" of bonus downloadable content -- is offered for the Mac. Buyers must pay more than the average (currently at $4.65) in order to get the Sims package, but this is the lowest price available for the game, which normally retails for $25
(and with the included DLC, $29).
