With just 11 days to go before the month-long iTunes Festival
begins in London, Apple has launched a revamped iOS app
devoted to the music event, as well as silently updated Apple TV to add a channel dedicated to the festival. Both will feature schedules, artist bios, live streams of performances (which will also be available through iTunes) and an easy way to buy the music from the performances and on-demand replays. The annual festival begins on September 1 at the Roundhouse in London and features 60 top-name artists.
The design of the app has received an overhaul in order to match the new look of the Apple TV channel, and includes links to each artists' music from the iTunes Store. Tickets for the event will be distributed by lottery. For those lucky enough to snag tickets, the app has added Passbook functionality -- allowing users to store digital tickets readable at the venue.
Among the headliners of the festival will be Lady Gaga, Elton John, Katy Perry, Justin Timberlake, Robin Thicke, Dizzee Rascal, Hot Chip, Avicii, Ellie Goulding, Primal Scream and Kendrick Lamar. Other acts include 30 Seconds to Mars, Phoenix, Jessie J, Jack Johnson, Qotsa, Kings of Leon, Sigur Ros, Vampire Weekend, The Pixies, John Legend, Arctic Monkeys, The Lumineers, The 1975, Little Green Cars, The Family Rain, Chic and Jimmy Eat World among others.
