Google has pulled its Authenticator app from the iOS App Store due to serious glitches in a Wednesday update, a report notes. The app is meant to provide two-step authentication for a Google account and places where that account is used. People who installed the most recent update, though, complain that it deleted all of the app's existing stored data and connected accounts.

Tokens for services like Dropbox, Evernote, Google Apps, DreamHost, and Twilio are said to have vanished. The accounts themselves should be intact, but the glitch can leave a person locked out, and/or force Authenticator users to re-sync all their data. Google hasn't said when a clean version of the app might return.
