Facebook is preparing a series of major updates for its iOS apps, a source claims. The company's core app
is slated to get access to Graph Search, a feature which lets people locate others with similar interests. The option should be integrated into the mobile app's search bar.Messenger
, meanwhile, reportedly has two new versions in testing. The first resembles the iOS Messages app; the second, said to be more likely to reach the public, uses plenty of white space in its design, more closely matching the look of iOS 7. It should also have tabs for contacts, settings, and active/recent chats along the bottom of its UI, and integrate with iOS' native contact list, letting people find more people to message. A similar update of the Android Messenger app is forthcoming.
Lastly, several new video filters are being tested for Instagram. When the app updates will deploy is uncertain, but Facebook is allegedly
"dogfooding" the new versions, meaning that workers are actively using them.
