Re-Compose's latest update to its music editing software, Liquid Notes, has its focus on user interface improvements. Released yesterday, its previous multi-function knob has been replaced by individual control elements for chord substitution, tension, and function. Other notable changes to Liquid Notes include more control while in track view, allowing for a high-level overview of one's musical arrangements on a single-instrument level. Ableton Live is now better supported, with the addition of a "multiple single-track import" feature to accommodate Live's lack of support for multi-channel MIDI arrangements. Available as a free trial download, or fully licensed software priced at $175, Liquid Notes can be obtained online from Re-Compose.

Mariner Software acquires recipe management apps, releases updates

Mariner Software, an industry developer and republisher of Mac OS, iOS and Windows products, has acquired Advenio's recipe management apps MacGourmet, MacGourmet Deluxe, and MacGourmet Touch. Mariner is releasing updates for each app, with version 4.0 launching of MacGourmet Deluxe and MacGourmet, while MacGourmet Touch for iOS being re-released as Gourmet iOS, which functions as a standalone or companion app, with free cloud account. The standalone application, MacGourmet Deluxe 4.0 for Mac OS X, has been updated from 32-bit to 64-bit architecture, and the UI now includes more ways of social sharing, including Facebook and Twitter. Cloud storage will allow the user to transfer recipes between multiple devices. MacGourmet Deluxe 4.0 is available for $50, and MacGourmet for $25. Gourmet iOS can be purchased from the App Store for the introductory price of $2.
