Following the release two weeks ago of the OS X Mavericks (10.9) "Golden Master" to developers, Apple has now issued the GM for the server version of Mavericks to developers. This generally signals the end of first-release development, with resources now being applied to the inevitable future Mavericks 10.9.1 update. Friday's build number for the server version is 13S440.
The release of the server GM is a strong hint that Apple plans to release the final version of Mavericks at its upcoming event on October 22, even though the main focus of the event is expected to be the debut of new iPads. Unlike the iPhone 5s and 5c unveiling that took place at Apple's Town Hall, the company is holding the October 22 even at the Yerba Buena center in San Francisco, which is a larger hall with a larger stage -- suggesting that multiple products are likely to be released or updated there.
In addition to the iPads and OS X, Apple may also use the occasion to debut the all-new Mac Pro, and recent hints have suggested that an updated version of the iLife apps may also be in the offing. MacNN will cover the event live, starting on Tuesday at 10AM Pacific, 1PM Eastern.
