[Updated with additional information] As promised by the company in response to user feedback, updates have been made to Apple's iWork suites of apps for Mac and iOS. Apple has released v2.0.1 updates for the iOS versions of Pages, Numbers, and Keynote. The iOS versions of, Pages and Numbers have only received minor bugfixes, but the Mac versions gained back a feature removed from the v10 remakes - customizable toolbars. The Mac and iOS version of Keynote also added a series of new transitions and builds.

When the latest iterations of the three iWork apps were announced for Mac, the company emphasized their simpler redesign and compatibility across iCloud, desktop and mobile versions. Not made clear, to the consternation of many users, was the fact that Version 10 of the apps lacked some features found in the previous version, sacrificed in an effort to make the apps 64-bit and cross-platform compatible. Apple quickly promised to restore lost functionality as it continued to update the rewritten apps, but not before angering some users.

The Mac version of Keynote is the most changed in Thursday's updates. The new transitions in Keynote include Blinds, Color Planes, Confetti, Fall, Perspective, Pivot, and Swoosh. For builds, the additions are Blinds, Fly in, Fly out, Orbital, Pivot, Scale Big, and Swoosh.

Pages and Numbers were updated to address bugs and offer stability improvements, but also saw the return center and edge guides, which are now turned on by default. Numbers now remembers window size and placement data for saved files, and also lets users set a preferred zoom default percentage.

Each of the Mac versions are free for Mavericks upgraders and those who have purchased a new Mac since September 1. They cost $20 each for new buyers, though the license is good for all Macs using the same Apple ID.

Apart from Keynote, the iOS versions of Pages and Numbers gained only minor bug-fixes in the update. The iOS version of the iWork suite requires iOS 7 or later. All three apps were recently made free for buyers of new iOS devices, but are still listed at $10 each for owners of older hardware -- such as the iPhone 5 or the fourth-generation iPad -- who never bought the previous versions.

Deleted numbers and reinstalled. It's working now. But the App Store still says there's an update! I think I'll wait this time.

azrich: the "update you're seeing is probably version 2.0.1, which is a bug-fix release. If so, I'd suggest you update it.

The 2.0.1 update is the problem, I did 2.0 for a while with no issues. There are others on the discussion boards seeing the same problems (Apple's discussion boards). I'm trying to stay at 2.0 if I can! I'm an idiot for updating in the middle of a work day using it, I know.

FWIW- 2.0.1 using iCloud is crashing on an iPad mini, Air, and iPhone 5.. Turn off iCloud and it's fine.
