The iTunes-exclusive (and unexpected) self-titled Beyoncé "visual album" has hit over one million in album sales in its first five days, Apple has confirmed. Earlier this week, the iTunes maker had announced sales of over 828,000 copies, making it the fastest-selling record in iTunes history. The eponymous album was kept secret until its release -- borrowing a trick from David Bowie, who launched a similar surprise comeback album a few months back -- and includes 17 videos.

The complete album, which is "Mastered for iTunes" and includes a digital booklet as well as the videos, costs $16. All the tracks and videos are available for preview, but are currently all "Album Only" until Friday, when buyers will be able to purchase individual songs. In an unusual move, Apple has devoted all of the "banners" at the top of the iTunes Store main page to the album, which has now shot to the top position in sales in over 100 countries -- as much a testament to the power of Apple's digital music store as it is of Beyoncé's popularity as a performer.

Original Tomb Raider debuts on iOS

The first of the original series of Tomb Raider games, now called Tomb Raider I, has come to iOS devices for $1. The updated version of the game includes two characters from the 1998 re-release and all the levels of the original game. It also supports some game controllers such as the Moga Ace Power and the Logitech PowerShell. The re-titling suggests that later titles, such as Tomb Raider II and Tomb Raider III may also come to iOS devices in the future.

Mailbox app updates, adds iCloud and Yahoo Mail support

Well-regarded alternative mail and inbox organizer app Mailbox (free) has updated to version 1.7, adding integration with Yahoo Mail and iCloud (and @me.com and @mac.com) email accounts in addition to Gmail and Google Apps email. In addition, the app has updated its look to match the style of iOS 7 and has added background syncing.

Further, there is now an option to disable the "swipe to open drawer" action and the "help me get to zero" banner, along with the usual bug fixes and user-interface improvements. The program focuses on helping users classify incoming emails by when they need to be paid attention to, allowing users to "snooze" some emails (thus allowing them to return at the specified time period), and quickly delete unimportant emails while archiving emails that have been dealt with. The app is available for iPhone, iPod touch and iPad.
