Cosmetics chain Sephora has announced that it is offering a variety of music, books, magazines and apps for free with its Sephora's Selections program. Its rotating selections are available for iPhone, iPad and iPod touch, and only within the US using the Sephora To Go app. Sephora's current selection includes journaling app Day One, remixer djay 2, sound-art program Silk, the company's own "selfie" photo program A Beautiful Mess, and the Sephora Shares Holiday Playlist, consisting of eight free holiday songs.

Apple's 12 Days of Gifts concludes with Rolling Stones mini album

Apple has concluded its annual '12 Days of Gifts' iOS promotion, with its final free gift being a three-song mini-album from the Rolling Stones. Users receive "Tumbling Dice," "Doom and Gloom," and "Beast of Burden," all performed live during the Stones' 2013 concert series in London's Hyde Park. Monday's release will be available for the rest of Monday. Sweet Summer Sun is available in the iTunes store, and one can also receive the free mini-album through using Apple's 12 Days of Gifts app.

Today was the first (and only) that the 12 Days app actually let me purchase the gift. The app finally worked.

On previous days, the app let me find out what the gift was, but I had to actually purchase the gifts that interested me in iTunes; I was unable to buy any of them on my iPhone 5 (iOS 7.0.4). The [FREE] button would change to [BUY ALBUM] or [BUY APP] or [BUY BOOK], but the pressing it again only changed it back to [FREE]. Nothing downloaded. It didn't even ask for my password.

Did anyone else have this frustrating experience? Is this a data point or an anecdote?

It's an anecdote, but I know what caused it -- I can replicate the experience if I wait too long between the first press (changing from the price to "BUY") and the second (which would either ask you for your iTunes password or go ahead and say "INSTALLING" or "DOWNLOADING" as the case may be). It can sometimes be a bit tricky to hit the right spot on an iPhone, particularly if you have large fingers as I do.
