Apple has been delaying shipments of some of the earliest Mac Pro orders into March, anecdotes reveal. Shortly after the company opened up online orders in late December, shipping estimates quickly extended into February. Now, though, even people who ordered in early January are receiving word that they shouldn't expect delivery until next week at the earliest; at least some customers are being told to wait another five to seven business days. One buyer notes that he had received emails at the beginning and middle of February reassuring him that his Pro would arrive by the end of the month.

The 2013 Mac Pro has always been in tight supply. Even now, new US orders of the Pro are only due to ship in April. Compounding factors may include the complexity of the computer, the small target audience, and the system being the only Mac manufactured in the United States.

Confirmed. My Pro said February ship. I called them just before this post showed up on MacNN and the CSR said 5-7 business days for the unit to come from China, and that they were upgrading my shipping to overnight. Wait a minute -- I thought these things were built in the USA...

What would make the Mac Pro seem so complex to build? I've seen the innards torn apart and it really doesn't seem all that complicated at all. Are they blaming this on incompetent American assemblers or what? There could be any number of reasons why there are delays. Like getting components or simply demand being much higher than expected. There are only so many hours in a day and a company can't always just throw more employees at a task to make things go faster. I often wonder how Samsung can produce products two to three times faster than Apple can but it probably has to do with how well they've learned to scale up production because that's the type of business they run. I still find it amazing and would certainly like to see what type of employees they have on their assembly lines. Maybe they're willing to work around the clock.

iphonerulez: the reason Samsung can "produce products two or three times faster than Apple" is because they don't have to spend all that time researching and prototyping and iterating their own ideas.

On the plus side, you'll have the new Mac Pro just in time for Xmas 2014.

The unit may be shipped as parts, but not assembled in China. I don't see any articles explicitly stating that the components are manufactured in the USA, sadly.
This one time, at Boot Camp, I stuck a flute up my PC.
