The developer of Pixelmator has released v3.2, codenamed Sandstone. The update makes several significant improvements, for instance revamping the Repair Tool to use color correction and eliminate the need to precisely select objects when trying to remove them. Backgrounds should likewise be better reconstructed. The tool has been further enhanced with three different settings, Quick, Standard, and Advanced. Quick is meant to deal with small fixes, while the latter two deal with larger objects.

16-bit channel editing has meanwhile been opened up to all Macs. In v3.1 the feature was restricted to the Mac Pro, purely because of performance issues.

Other changes include the ability to lock layers, a new method of making shapes with the selection tool, and easier diameter adjustment for brushes. Pixelmator is $30 new at the Mac App Store; the v3.2 update is free to existing owners.
