Apple has issued updates for all of its professional video-related Mac apps. Leading these is Final Cut Pro 10.1.2, which has received dozens of workflow improvements and bugfixes. Optimized, proxy, and rendered media can now be stored in any location outside of the library, or deleted from within Final Cut. A standard (Rec. 709) look can be applied in real-time to HDR and wide-color video from ARRI, Blackmagic, Canon, and Sony hardware, and the software newly supports Apple's ProRes 4444 XQ format.

Speed and accuracy have been increased for syncing clips, and new audio recording functions include countdown and automatic Audition creation from multiple takes. An entire library can be exported as a single XML file, and users should be able to do faster exports of cuts-only XDCAM projects.

Relative and absolute volume can be adjusted for a single clip or a selected range. In terms of imports, users can now simply drag a clip into the Browser, and generate keywords from Finder tags. Some minor touches include the ability to sort events by date or name in the Libraries list, filter for unused media in the Browser, and share 4K video to Vimeo.

Compressor 4.1.2 and Motion 5.1.1 have also gained ProRes 4444 XQ, but are otherwise minor releases. The former includes stability fixes and better performance in areas like batch operations and encoding H.264 files from GoPro cameras. When using the Send to Compressor option in Final Cut or Motion, the process should be both smoother and equipped with a status display.

Motion has been tweaked with "improved Sequence Text behavior" when animating characters, words, and lines, and better Contrast filter parameters. A MainStage update should be launched later today.
