New information on Walmart's iPhone 5 preorder plans has emerged, 9to5Mac reports. Leaked documents show that while the company originally advertised preorders starting at 8AM local time today, that timing has been pushed up until whenever each store gets the necessary reservation cards delivered. Each card costs $25, which counts toward the purchase price of an iPhone. In some cases the cards are not expected to arrive until September 15th. Walmart is also cautioning that it can't guarantee that preorders will be available on September 21st, but does say it will hold each order at a store for up to 10 days after delivery. As is standard elsewhere, iPhone purchases are limited to two per person. For a bonus, though, the company is including $5 credit towards Walmart's online movie service, VUDU.

Why does anyone want to buy an iPhone from the cesspool that is Walmart. That company and store sucks big time. They are single handedly responsible for our debt to China.
Want an iPhone - go somewhere else - anywhere but Walmart.

I understand your concern about debt and China, but where do you think iPhones are made - by elves in the Black Forest?

thats where i got mine too. verizon wanted 749 for the 16gb plus tax. walmart wants what the phone really costs 649 plus tax. so i ask why in the hell would i pay 100 more for the same thing i would have to be stupid to just throw away a hundred bucks. verizons excuse was well we have to make money as if they actually pay 650 for it such bs if you ask me. mine is expected to arrive today or tomorrow through fed ex. ill gladly wait a couple extra hours and save my 100 for a nice new case. my question is why wouldnt anyone want to save themselves a hundred bucks if purchasing outright. plus i heard on contract they're 10 cheaper as well so its a no brainer in my opinion.

The sales margin for hardware for authorized crApple outfits are nearly nil. But, hey, can't blame Verizon for acting on part of its "for profit" obligation. Money is made on the service repairs and warranty sales for these folks; now verizon seems to have "had enough" with the sliver... they are hungry for the chunk. Goonies anyone?
