Germany's Mannheim Regional Court has ruled against an Apple claim that some Samsung and Motorola devices based on Android are violating a "touch event" patent, according to FOSS Patents. The judgment technically covers two separate lawsuits, but Samsung and Motorola were both accused of infringing on European Patent EP2098948, documenting how software can recognize or ignore touch interactions. Unlike the patented Apple concept, Android doesn't save a "multi-touch flag" for each UI window, says presiding judge Andreas Voss.

FOSS also notes that on Wednesday, a Munich regional court held a hearing and two trials involving Apple patent complaints against HTC. Apple continued to pursue allegations related to slide-to-unlock, gallery page-flipping and rubber-banding screen patents, but nothing eventful is said to have taken place. The two trials are expected to be decided in January.

Given how previous cases have turned out, every other court in the world will rule the opposite. The German courts love them some Motorola.
